Kerryn Hocking
Contact details
Kerryn grew up in Adelaide but always yearned to live in the country. She finally got her dream and built a log home near Meadows in the Adelaide Hills where she can live amongst nature. She enjoys travelling throughout Australia enjoying the diversity of scenery, flora, and fauna.
Animals and drawing have been Kerryn’s lifelong passions.
She began riding and drawing horses, which then added to a deeper interest and respect for all other animals and their inter-relationships.
Kerryn believes colour, light, nature, plants, and animals can bring so much pleasure if one takes the time to notice.
Her art is directed towards bringing attention to the necessity for protecting all plants and animals. She admires Nature’s remarkable diversity and hopes to encourage people through her art, towards an appreciation, respect, responsibility and understanding of the need to protect all of it for man and our planet to survive.
Kerryn gains as much pleasure from being with animals and photographing them as she does to paint or etch them. She works mostly in pastel and scratchboard.
Kerryn is currently a committee member of the Pastel Artists of SA, a Co-op member of Off the Slate Gallery at Willunga, and Member of the International Society of Scratchboard Artists. Kerryn is a Life Member of Zoos SA and supports many world-wide conservation programs, especially those for endangered species, with sales of her work.
